June 27th - Intro to Poisons Class - The Juicebox Lakeland

Intro to Poisons
Saturday, June 27 • 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM
The Juicebox, Lakeland

Step into the fascinating and often misunderstood world of poisonous plants with The Citrine Ghost for an evening of education, history, and mystery.

This introductory presentation explores a variety of poisonous plants, including live specimens for guests to examine up close. Learn what makes these plants toxic, how their toxins work, and which species are commonly found here in Florida. We'll also discuss practical safety tips to help protect your family and pets while gardening and exploring the outdoors.

Along the way, we'll dive into the darker side of botanical history with tales of Victorian poisonings, infamous toxic plants, and mysterious deaths linked to poison. From folklore and superstition to science and true crime, these stories reveal the powerful role poisonous plants have played throughout human history.

The goal of this event is not to inspire fear, but to encourage understanding. Many poisonous plants are beautiful, historically significant, and valuable members of our ecosystems. By learning to identify and respect them, we can replace misconceptions with knowledge.

Each guest will enjoy a themed "poisonous" beverage crafted by The Juicebox and receive a special gift from The Citrine Ghost shop.

Whether you're a gardener, plant enthusiast, history lover, or simply curious about the darker side of the botanical world, this is an evening you won't want to miss. 🖤🌿☠️
